Gestalt Therapy

The Gestalt approach is grounded in the inevitability of the connection between the individual and other individuals as well as the environment in general.  It is these relationships that shape us and which we, in turn, shape.

This workshop will offer an introductory exploration of the philosophy, practice and experience of the Gestalt approach.  It is designed to meet the needs of practising therapists and counsellors as well as those with a more general interest.

Workshop Overview

This workshop will introduce Gestalt practice as a therapeutic approach as well as a way of life.

Participants will be given the opportunity to:

• Gain a theoretical overview of Gestalt principles
• Enjoy experiential learning on a personal level
• Develop an understanding of the relevance of Gestalt practice to the therapeutic relationship
• Practise Gestalt counselling skills

This program has been designed to ensure both structure and flexibility to maximise the learning experience and capture the spontaneity of the moment. Learning methods will include a blend of facilitator led teaching and discussion, experiential exercises, dyad/triad work and demonstrations.

Sally Brooks B.Ed. (Hons), MGT, CM.GANZ, is a psychotherapist in private practice with over 12 years experience in the psychotherapy field.

With extensive experience in training and teaching at a tertiary level, Sally has designed, developed and delivered programs on a national and international level. Sally is a Faculty member of Gestalt Practitioners Training Sydney.
